In the production and repairing of planes the manufacturers use not only aluminium rivets, but also specific sticky tape. It’s placed in a quick and easy way, but most significantly, it can fix the stuff reliably. Adhesive tapes are provided with high thermostability. They don’t effuse any hazardous substances when being heated up and they allow to seal joints and even to insulate wiring.

Adhesive tapes used in aircraft repairing may be of the following kinds:

There are following types of adhesive tapes for aircraft repairing:

• sealing;
• reinforcing;
• protective;
• insulating.

Which tape to choose? It depends on where it will be applied. For sealing of joints in cargo compartment one should use the tape based on fiberglass cloth. It may contain fireproofed acrylic basis, modified rubber and mix of specific silicone-based glues as an adhesive agent.

During heat treatment, for protecting of surfaces and engine elements, the fiberglass cloth based tapes with aluminium are applied. In that case the glue basis is fireproofed only, it may be either acrylic or silicone.

Specific masking tapes are used for different purposes where high strength is no mandatory requirement. They are paper-based. Either acrylic or rubber basis is used as a glue matter.

The adhesive tape for aircraft repairing is an easy and comfortable way to conduct quick repairing which is highly needed in the course of flights: it happens to be convenient when a breakage should be fixed in a fast-tracked manner.
